The Christmas Wish - 8th of December 2009
Hong Kong 8, December, 2009 – ”The Christmas Wish” is the debut single from Ginger Kwan, one of Hong Kong’s most talented homegrown singers. With an undisputed reputation as a trendsetter in every facet of life, Ginger decided to launch her single on a Limited-Edition USB Flash Drive. Within which, there is a video interview with the artist who tells her audience what inspired her and how the recording came together. In addition, users can enjoy a multi-media interactive experience where they can download different formats and versions of Ginger’s single, its sheet music, its lyrics and even sing along version of the song. The single is an original song by Dan Lavelle, Ginger’s long time musical cohort, featuring Hong Kong’s “A” list musical talents Roel Garcia, Anthony Fernandes, Fergus Chow and Dan Lavelle. “I was really unsure how things [the recording] would turn out”, says Ginger during a recent Radio 3 interview because none of the musicians, except Ginger and Dan Lavelle, had seen the song before and had to learn it upon arriving at the studio. Producer Jezrael Lucero also decided half way through the recording to use a grand piano rather than an electric keyboard – just one of many ad hoc decisions made during the recording itself. So, everyone had been “playing it by ear” in the literal and metaphorical sense. The single is now on sale at On 19 December, 2009 – The launch concert for the single will be held at the Living Room of the W Hotel, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon Station, Kowloon at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are now available. Melody Maker - 19 April 2007 SCMP
When America's leading jazz artists gathered for a morning photo shoot on the streets of New York in 1958, one them explained his lateness by saying that most musicians have no idea there are two 10 o'clocks in the same day. Although she might be relatveily new to the jazz world, Ginger Kwan is keeping alive that laid-back attitude. She sleeps in through our first interview-arranged for 2pm. and arrives a little bleary-eyed and half and hour late for our second, scheduled for 5pm the next day.

60 Seconds Ginger Kwan - 23 March, 2007

Crowd-pleasing tricks: Catch them by surprise by performance on different instruments, looking good and doing crazy things-basically being the real me.
